In the Making: 3D Printing Filament

Attempted to produce filament using recycled PET, PP, and PP post-consumer resin material. The materials was supplied by the TOLY Products Ltd, one plastic packaging company in Malta. The process was quite challenging in achieving a homogeneous consistency and diameter tolerance for use in a 1.75 mm 3D printer proved difficult. Several parameters were adjusted, including the temperature across four heating zones, screw speed, and cooling fan percentage in order to optimize the filament properties. After many trials and errors, I finally succeeded producing the filament using of recycled materials. While this task might be easy for experts in the field, however, this is a great achievement and skill development for me.
